dellorto jet tech pro

This is a article about the Dellorto jet tech pro carburetor. The Dellorto jet tech pro is a carburetor, invented by Giovanni De Lorto, which was produced from the 1940s to 1960s. In its original form this design had no enrichment or power valves as it relied on the engine's ignition timing for fuel injection. The first commercially sold feature of this carb would have been auto-choke which came out in the 1950s and it has seen modern day upgrades such as fuel injection and electronic ignition. This new type of design became a staple of racing engines although it never caught on with production car powers otherwise they may have never developed fuel injection for cars... and this wouldn't be such a great article. There's more though, read on. The Dellorto jet tech pro carburetor can be identified by its elongated neck that meets a similar shaped body to the carburetor. Unlike other "jet" styles of carburetor, the Dellorto jet tech pro has a very small air intake opening which can be seen from underneath by sitting under the car and looking down the intake manifold. This small intake can be identified because of its resemblance to a shotgun barrel. This carburetor was created to fit many different applications from motorcycles to chainsaws and that is why the air intake is smaller than most carburetors. The Dellorto jet tech pro carburetor was made in Italy and has been one of the most produced carburetors in history and although it has been replaced by modern fuel injection today it still plays a crucial role in many car racing applications such as Sprint cars, Modified sprint cars, motorcycles and lawn tractors. This makes this one of the longest lasting designs in history; however, there were two major innovations that ended this design's reign. The first of these was the development of fuel injection. The Dellorto jet tech pro carburetor was designed to be able to handle any type of fuel although it had an inclination to lean toward either gasoline or diesel fuels. This lean tendency made it hard for fuel injection systems to produce enough high velocity fuel mixture for maximum power. Around this time, the first gasoline direct injection engines were developed and this new system could produce a much better gas-to-air mix for better power. The second major development was electronic ignition which became used in many racing engines and also in modified street engines and motorcycles. Because of these two major advancements this Dellorto jet tech pro carburetor design had to be changed in order to continue to produce maximum power with little modification. Pete Dellorto was not the only fan of this carburetor although he would go on to make many changes in order to adapt it for new purposes. One example is the addition of a braided brake line. This design also saw an increase in performance which created even more enthusiasm for this obscure carburetor. eccc085e13
